What is Seva?
To perform Selfless dedicated service without any thought of rewards or personal benefit.
CMS Seva Program
Service to those in need is Service rendered to our Lord. Seva is the very essence of devotion.
The Chinmaya Mission Seattle Seva Program is a wonderful opportunity to live the core values of our mission. While we have a chance to pay forward all the blessings we enjoy, we can says teach “by example” to be grateful for all we have, and instill the value of service from a young age with our Bala Vihar children.
We are privileged to facilitate various projects for serving those in need in our community, under the CMS umbrella.
Seva Opportunities for 2020-2021
This year we will be participating in three programs:
- Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches for the Search & Rescue team (Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission) to serve the Seattle homeless population. We have signed up to make and deliver 400 sandwiches on the last Saturday of each month. This is a simple way the whole family can engage in seva.
Sign up here to help with making sandwiches.
- Cooking for Hope Place (Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission): Homeless Shelter for Women and Children. Every three months, we will be cooking a meal and delivering it to the shelter to feed 80-100 women and children.
- Meals for Helen’s Place (The Sofia Way) : Emergency shelter in Kirkland ,providing a safe and stable space for women experiencing homelessness. We have signed up with Helen’s Place to provide dinner for 40 people, on the second Saturday once a month.

Please contact us if you are interested in participating in either of these programs, or if you are interested in joining the Seva Committee. We are always seeking to grow the program so we can do more!
