Camp dates: August 5-9, 2019
Time:, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Venue: Eastside Baha’i Center, 16007 NE 8th St, Bellevue
Extended care available from 8 am – 9 am and 4 pm – 5 pm

Camp Theme:  This year, we focus on Indian History from the dawn of civilization ​to India’s liberation from colonial rule. Our camp will delve into stories of mighty rulers and great thinkers in each time period to showcase the richness of India’s history and her contributions to the world.

Activities include:

  • arts & crafts
  • story-telling
  • yoga
  • indoor games
  • drama, dance & music
  • outdoor sports and more….

Children will be divided into 3 groups, K- Grade 2, Grade 3 – 4 and Grade 5 – 8.

Our high energy program is run by experienced teachers assisted by trained High School students.
​The staff to student ratio will be 1: 5 for the younger children and 1: 7 for the older groups.

Camp Objective: Physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth of our children, imparting to them our ancient eternal wisdom, values, and culture in a fun environment.  

FAQ’s

Q: What is the age group for camp attendees?
A: Children between the ages of 5 through 15

Q: What are the camp timings?
A: Full day camp from 9 AM – 4 PM.  

Q: Is before/after care available?
A: Before care: 8 am to 9 am; Aftercare: 4 pm to 5 pm for a nominal fee of $10 per before/ aftercare.

Q: Will you provide food during the camp?
A: Each participant will bring a vegetarian sack lunch from home.  We will provide 2 snacks such as fruit, popsicles, crackers etc. sometimes special treats!

Q: Can I volunteer as a parent?
A: Yes definitely! All parents are encouraged to volunteer during the camp. We will have a volunteer orientation day and time set up prior to the camp.

Q:  How do I enroll my child in the program?
A: We will be sending out a link for registration via email and will have details and a registration link on our website. Registration will be limited, please register early to avoid disappointment.

Q: What is a typical day like at camp?
A: The mornings will be dedicated to classes and yoga. After lunch and recess, the children will engage in class, art, and sports. Between classes and activities, there will be lunch and snack breaks. A general schedule has been created and this will be posted on the Summer Camp page on the Chinmaya website.  A copy of the schedule will be provided in the binder that your child receives at Summer camp.

Q: How do I contact the camp?

Q: Are there additional costs outside the camp fee and what does the camp fee include?
A: The camp fee includes all camp activities, material fees, and snacks. For those who will use before and aftercare, nominal additional costs will apply.

Q: What should I do/who should I inform if my child will be absent?
A: You can send an email to the camp coordinator of the respective chapter regarding any absences.

Q: What should I do/ who should I inform if my child is arriving late or leaving early?
A: You should inform in advance the camp coordinator via email to your chapter camp coordinator. Upon arrival at the camp please check-in with the onsite coordinator to let them know that the child has arrived or is departing early.

Q: My child will be picked up by a friend, who should I contact/inform about this change?
A: You should inform the on-site camp coordinator and provide a written authorization at/prior to the time of pickup. The written authorization may be emailed to the coordinator of the camp you enrolled your child(ren).

Q: Where can I find the shlokas and bhajans that my child is learning in camp?
A: The child will receive a comp booklet on the first day, which will have all the stories, Shlokas and Bhajans children will learn during the camp.

Q: How do I add my name to the email distribution list?
A: Your email address will be captured from your registration and automatically added to the distribution list. If you would like to add more than one email address, please add both when you register the child.

Q: Who do I contact regarding my child’s medication needs?
A: Please provide that information in the Health Form when you register.

Q: What not to bring?
A: Camp attendees are not permitted to carry/use Cell Phones or other communication devices. Use of such devices in the center is restricted and any violation will result in the confiscation of the device.
